In 1988 I sat behind a drumkit the first time. My brother played keyboard in a band and took me to their rehearsal one night. When starting to play a simple rock beat the other guys turned around and said: "Hey, how long have you been playing? You got talent!"

I started to take drum lessons until my parents finally let me buy my first drumkit, a black standard Pearl Export, on January 21st, 1989 (bought at Music 6000, Unna).

In 1992 I took over the Yamaha Power Recording Custom fusion set from my drum teacher. This set is absolutely great when playing small venues. My former band mates just called it "Stage White" as the colour is absolutely stunning. I even took it to a couple of hard rock gigs. It's a gem, you don't find this kind of drums nowadays. The kit is now sitting in my basement to allow me to practice after work.

When living in the USA in 1994/95 I bought the DW set. This has been my favourite set for more than 20 years now. Built into a Pearl rack it just sounds great for rock, pop, funk, even metal. In the early 90ies I also bought the Ufip Class Hi-Hat cymbals which are the best-sounding hihats I've ever come across. They are so crisp they're the worst dream of every recording technician ;-)
